Why Preceptly?

Working as a freelance tutor at two institutes, organizing lessons, contracts, and invoices across different tools quickly became overwhelming.

Preceptly was built to have everything in one place — scheduling, contracts, invoices, and income — clearly arranged and without the chaos.

The developer

Preceptly is developed and used by Andreas Eirich, a freelance web developer from Ankum, Germany.

He works as a tutor on a fee basis at TutorSpace and Abacus, and developed Preceptly because no suitable tool existed for his own tutoring work.

The goal is to offer it to other tutors in the future. Under andicode he runs a web development business; further projects are listed at andicode.de.

Technology

Preceptly is built on Django 5 and Python 3.12, backed by a PostgreSQL database and hosted on Railway.

All data is hosted on Railway (Railway Corp., USA) and processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / DSGVO). Data transfers to the USA are safeguarded by EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

The technology stack was chosen for its maturity, security track record, and long-term maintainability.

Status

Preceptly is actively used by its developer for his own tutoring work and is in ongoing development.

There are no external testers yet — feedback and early access requests are welcome at info@preceptly.de.
